New Prospect Fire Department Earns Class 5 ISO Rating
Press release/ Tyler McDow, Chief
We at the New Prospect Fire Department are pleased to announce the results of our recent ISO (INSURANCE SERVICES OFFICE) evaluation. Prior to our 2014 evaluation by ISO, our department had maintained a split 7/9 insurance rating.
As a result of a three year process of equipment acquisitions, hundreds of hours or training, numerous fundraisers, a productive working relationship with neighboring departments, dedicated members, and most importantly God's blessings, we have earned a CLASS 5 ISO RATING for our primary coverage area.
ISO ratings are based on a grading scale that evaluates fire response, firefighter training, fire apparatus, fire equipment, water supply, and many other factors.
After the evaluation is complete a rating between 1 and 10 is issued to the department; a Class 1 being the best possible rating and a Class 10 being the entry level of the scale. The same grading scale equally applies to both career (full-time) and volunteer departments.
“This would not have been possible without the hard work of our members. I hope this helps our community to see that not only are we providing the best emergency services possible, but that their investment in NPFD has provided a substantial return,” stated Chief Tyler McDow.
The receiving of this new rating means that residents of our coverage area will now be eligible for significant discounts on home owners insurance, and commercial fire loss policies. The new rating becomes effective November 1, 2014.
We are thankful for a supportive community and supportive families of our members. It brings great joy to our department to be able to once again give back to our community. We would ask for your continued support in our future endeavors.
Children of members present the department with a cake honoring the occasion.
